Press Release: The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has moved its operations to a larger location in Karol Bagh, the central jewelry hub of New Delhi. Realizing the potential of New Delhi as one of the biggest fine jewelry markets, IGI started its lab operations in 2007 and since then has successfully carried out various services, including the identification and grading of loose diamonds, colored stones and mounted jewelry, among many others.

With its new setup at Karol Bagh, IGI now extends its valuable services to a larger audience in North India with educational programs for professionals, gem enthusiasts and jewelry traders through the IGI School of Gemology. IGI also places special emphasis on education by providing bigger classrooms as well as introducing diamond courses and will welcome more students from important cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur and Chandigarh. With such specialized focus on education, IGI aims to nurture young talent that will, in the long run, work in favor of the gems and jewelry industry. That said, many gem enthusiasts from outside the industry are also following the Institute’s courses.

Speaking on the occasion,  Tehmasp Printer, the managing director IGI India, said, “We are delighted to announce this move within Karol Bagh to facilitate better certification and educational services. Our Karol Bagh laboratory accommodates a large group of qualified professionals whose skillful hands have raised the benchmark for IGI in North India. We are confident that our School of Gemology and international standards for certification services will be valued by potential customers in New Delhi and will further expand our footprint in North India.”

Printer elaborated, “Leading jewelers across North India avail of IGI’s expert services via its mobile laboratory facility that certifies diamond jewelry on-site at showrooms. Jewelers request IGI jewelry certificates because they provide an independent guarantee that is, in turn, appreciated by consumers.”

IGI is the only gemological laboratory in the country to be awarded ISO Accreditation/IEC 17025:2005 for “standard grading and certification processes,” further reinforcing the exacting standards that IGI has set since it entered India in 1999.
