RAPAPORT... CIRCA partnered with Michael Jordan's The Steak House N.Y.C. to share a public experience and the appreciation of scotches and watches.

CIRCA's cofounder, Jeffrey Singer, spoke to attendees about the top five most iconic men's watches and provided tips for building a world-class watch collection. Diageo Spirits' Spike McClure, who is known as the Master of Whiskey, showcased the scotch pairings for the watches, while guests tried on the timepieces, tasted spirits and sampled hors d'oeuvres. timepieces, circa

Penny Glazier, the owner of The Steak House, said, "We presented guests with a tasting of five of the finest scotches offering a variety of flavor profiles that complemented the exquisite watches presented by CIRCA. The chef's selection of hors d'oeuvres were designed to accompany the complex tastes of the scotches without overwhelming the flavor."

Singer educated guests on what each of the top five watches had in common. "The watches we're showcasing tonight each demonstrate meticulous engineering, timeless designs and elegant craftsmanship. Each watch differs in appearance yet reflects the same iconic characteristics that make them some of the most recognizable timepieces of the modern era."

The five watches and scotches on display included the Cartier 38mm Pasha, which was paired with Glenmorangie Signet; the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph matched with  Johnnie Walker Platinum Label; the Audemar Piguet Royal Oak and the Oban 18 Year Limited Edition Single Malt; the Patek Philippe Calatrava with Talisker 30-Year-Old and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date was coupled with  Johnnie Walker King George V.

Outside of the top five most iconic watches and the scotch pairings, Singer highlighted the top five watches that hold the most value in the secondary market, including Rolex, Patek, Audemar and Lange & Sohne. "Better names will always have a better chance of retaining a higher derivative of the retail price; the two strongest are Rolex and Patek Philippe, though Lange & Sohne has come on very strong during the last couple of years. If buying a new watch, stick to retailers who are authorized distributors of the brands you are considering," Singer said.
