Press Release: New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) president Reuven Kaufman announced that the first day of trading during Antwerp Diamond Week in Manhattan was “an unqualified success.” Nearly one hundred Belgium and U.S. firms from the DDC and the Beurs voor Diamanthandel came to the club's trading floor to buy and sell goods. According to Kaufman, based upon reports of today’s trading, it is anticipated that substantial business will take place between the members of two of the most prominent bourses in the worldwide diamond industry. Beurs voor Diamanthandel's president, Marcel Pruwer, indicated that his members were extremely pleased with the turnout at Antwerp Diamond Week and the detailed arrangements by DDC. He and his colleagues look forward to the rest of Antwerp Diamond Week at the DDC as well as initiating a Diamond Dealers Club Week in Antwerp for DDC members. Messrs. Pruwer and Kaufman praised the joint undertaking between their bourses, and said that this was a great opportunity for their members to examine a considerable variety of goods, to trade, to establish new business contacts and to renew long-standing ones. Kaufman thanked the major sponsors of Antwerp Diamond Week, including the Gemological Institute of America and the Forty Seventh Fifth Company LLC.
