RAPAPORT... The Panama Diamond Exchange awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership to Ehud Laniado, recognizing his contribution of knowledge and expertise to the diamond industry. In his acceptance speech, Laniado congratulated the opening of the exchange and its great importance as an emerging trading center. The award was given during grand opening ceremonies, headed by Eli Izakhoff, the chairman of the Panama Diamond Exchange's board of directors, and Erez Akerman, the president of the exchange. The Panama Diamond Exchange is the first and only diamond exchange in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a mission to serve as a center for trading diamonds, gemstones and jewelry across South America and to serve as a bridge for global suppliers and purchasers who previously had limited access to the region.
