RAPAPORT... London auction house Bonhams has named Daniel Struyf to the newly created role of international jewelry director, according to a company announcement. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s market share and lead its 30-person jewelry team.

Struyf previously was with Christie’s in New York, Hong Kong and Geneva, Olympic Diamond Corporation in New York and Hong Kong, and Antwerp’s Backes & Strauss. “As our clients are based all around the world and our business continues to grow at a global level, it was apparent that we needed someone wholly dedicated to focusing on jewellery at an international level in order to meet our ambitious plans for the future,” Matthew Girling, global CEO of Bonhams and its global director of jewelry, said.

Bonhams said it sells more jewelry than any other auction house globally, holding more than 40 dedicated jewelry sales each year.
