RAPAPORT... Rio Tinto Diamonds has set out plans to bring rough diamonds for the first time directly into India from its Argyle mine in Australia and Diavik mine in Canada for auction viewings.

The products will be on display at the Bharat Diamond Bourse’s new Special Notified Zone at the end of November.

The viewings, open only to fully registered companies with ‘Know Your Customer’ compliance, will be followed by a live electronic auction.

Rio Tinto fully owns the Argyle mine and owns 60 percent of the Diavik mine in Canada and sold its 77.8 percent interest in Murowa in Zimbabwe in June.
