Signet Inks Rough Supply Deal with ALROSA
Arjav, Fischler Diamonds Brings Miner’s Client List to 50

Signet Direct Diamond Sourcing, a subsidiary of Signet Jewelers, has signed a long term rough diamond supply contract with ALROSA, the Russian miner confirmed with Rapaport News. The deal, which was signed in the third quarter, formalizes diamond purchasing by one of the world's largest diamond jewelry retailers from the top diamond producer by carat volume.
Reports of negotiations between the two companies have been circulating for more than two years and Signet has purchased rough at ALROSA's spot market sales in the past. The recent deal adds to the growing consistent supply that the jeweler is already sourcing from De Beers and Rio Tinto.
ALROSA currently has long-term supply contracts with 50 clients, having signed three this year - including with Signet, and in the second quarter with Belgian firms Arjav Diamonds and Fischler Diamonds. The contracts will run until the end of 2017, an ALROSA spokesperson said.
