IDE President Schnitzer Won’t Seek Re-election

RAPAPORT... Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) president Shmuel Schnitzer will not run for re-election in mid-December, a spokesperson for the IDE confirmed with Rapaport News.

The election is being contested between Yoram Dvash, owner of Yoram Dvash Diamonds, and Arnon Yuval, partner at S. Yuval & Co. Both currently serve on the IDE’s executive committee.

Schnitzer, who is chief executive officer and chairman of S. Schnitzer Diamonds, served as IDE president from October 2013 following a previous term from 1998 to 2004. He was president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) between 2002 until 2006 and on leaving the position was awarded honorary life presidency of the organization. He remains a member of its executive committee.
