RAPAPORT... Jewelers
of America (JA), a national trade association
for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace,
certified 133 professionals this year from areas such as sales, management and
bench jewelry.
The
certification adds competitive edge to participating retails stores and enhances
trust among the industry’s professionals, the U.S. trade group that established
this program in the late 1990s said in a statement November 19.
“JA
professional certification helps raise the bar when it comes to professionalism
in the jewelry industry,” Susan Posnock, JA’s director of public affairs and
education, said in the statement. “JA certification programs promote consumer
confidence by validating an individual’s talent, knowledge and jewelry
proficiency to consumers seeking trustworthy jewelers.”
The
professional sales and management certification program requires candidates to
take two-hour examinations. No preparation is required as the test is designed
to assess a person’s existing knowledge and expertise.
