RAPAPORT... The Israel Diamond Exchange’s general assembly awarded former president Yair Sahar the title of honorary president at the bourse’s annual general meeting on December 15.

Sahar, president of the exchange between 2011 and 2013, received the honor from outgoing president Shmuel Schnitzer, according to a statement December 28. Sahar joins Schnitzer and Avi Paz as the three former presidents to have received the honorary title.

Schnitzer, who has handed on the president role to newly-elected Yoram Dvash, said: “I am confident that with a new president taking up the reins of our exchange, we will be available to offer him our counsel and advice.”

“In these challenging times for our industry, we need the advice and insights of the captains who have run our ship in the past and have negotiated the rough seas that we continue to experience today," Dvash said.
