RAPAPORT... London-listed diamond development company Stellar Diamonds exported a parcel of 3,341 carats from trial mining of its Baoulé kimberlite project in Guinea to Antwerp ahead of a planned auction.

The stones will be cleaned and assorted prior to the auction, which is expected in March, according to a statement February 16.

This is Stellar’s third sale of Baoulé diamonds. Based on the current grade realized and previous drilling results, the company is targeting a resource in the region of 3 million carats at the mine, the statement said.

To date some 8,830 carats have been recovered from trial mining. The two diamond sales in 2015, totaling 5,173 carats, generated revenues of more than $700,000.
