RAPAPORT... Sales of “Crown of Light” diamonds exceeded $100 million in 2016, hitting the milestone 10 years after brand owner Almod Diamonds launched its manufacturing operations, the company reported Monday.

The 90-facet patented cut is one of the fastest-growing diamond brands in the world, according to Almod, a New York-based affiliate of retailer Diamonds International.

The company cuts and polishes the diamonds in Namibia, where it opened its first facility in 2007, and at additional factories in Europe, Africa and North America. It plans to start work at its newest cutting center in Yellowknife, Canada, in the third quarter, enabling it to source Canadian diamonds for the first time.

“Almod Diamonds’ powerful position in the diamond industry has been spearheaded by Crown of Light,” CEO Albert Gad said at the JCK Las Vegas show earlier this month. “We are very proud of the tremendous growth that Crown of Light has experienced over the past 10 years and are excited for the continued success of this innovative brand.”
