RAPAPORT... Gareth Mostyn, executive head of strategy and corporate affairs at De Beers, will leave the company in early 2018 to become chief finance and operations officer of the Church of England.

Previously chief financial officer at De Beers, Mostyn (pictured) took over his current role from Bruce Cleaver, who later became De Beers’ CEO.

Mostyn began working at De Beers’ parent company, Anglo American, in 2008, serving as head of corporate finance. He was appointed to the De Beers board as CFO in February 2012, and became executive head for strategy and corporate affairs in January 2016. He previously spent 12 years working for the BOC Group, a gas and engineering company, where he held a number of senior finance roles.

“Gareth has been a central part of De Beers’ success during the last six years, and a trusted partner to me,” Cleaver said. “The church is an important part of Gareth’s life, and I know he will be an important part of the church’s future.”

De Beers has not yet named Mostyn’s successor.
