RAPAPORT... The Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association (IDCA) has elected a new board of directors, replacing its president and welcoming its first female member, the organization announced Monday.

The IDCA last week voted in Nilesh Sheth of Nice Diamonds (pictured) as president, and Shailesh Jhalani from Prompt Gem Importers as vice president. They will take over from outgoing president Ashok Sancheti and vice president Rakesh Barmecha in 2018.

The board’s executive committee will also include Fairway Diamonds’ Shrenil Bhansali as secretary, Rajeev Pandya of Ashi Diamonds as treasurer, and Real Gems’ Shekhar Shah as joint secretary.

In addition to the board’s returning members, young entrepreneurs Shiksha Naheta of Empresa Jewels and Sujan Doshi of SA Diamonds will join in 2018. Naheta is also the IDCA board’s first female representative.

*Correction: The IDCA is a New York based organization and not India-based as the original headline indicated.
