IGI Enhances Security of Grading Reports

RAPAPORT... The International Gemological Institute (IGI) will introduce new grading reports that are more durable and easier to read, and have additional layers of security to protect against counterfeiting.
The new certificates, which the lab will debut in October, will include the IGI seal, as well as Certieye, a tamper-evident security label, the institute said Monday. The reports will also be printed horizontally instead of vertically, and will come on non-tear paper to increase their durability.
“The institute strives to be a revolutionary leader for the industry — from technology implementation, timely design changes and creating innovative service offerings — and provide services and offerings that are beneficial to the industry and diamond dealers around the world,” said IGI CEO Roland Lorie. “By evolving the design, we are continuing to provide industry-leading certification and grading while also creating a fresh look, ensuring more efficient service, and maximizing security for hassle-free retail operations.”
IGI first launched its grading reports in 1975. The new format will be applied to reports for natural diamonds, colored stones and jewelry, it noted.
