RAPAPORT...
HRD Antwerp has unveiled a report identifying the natural origin of uncut diamonds used to create polki jewelry.

The Authenticity Jewellery Report will verify traditional Indian polki jewelry, which has become more popular in international markets, the Antwerp lab said last week. HRD already has a report that covers polished diamonds, but polki jewelry contains mounted, uncut stones, which are not generally graded using the regular 4Cs.

The lab will screen each stone set within the jewel to determine its natural origin, and issue a report only for those containing 100% natural, untreated diamonds, it noted. The idea is to create a higher level of confidence for consumers looking to buy authentic polki pieces.

“It is essential for HRD Antwerp to bring additional value to these timeless jewels,” said HRD CEO Ellen Joncheere.
