The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) introduced a new colored stone grading course that is conducted in association with Gemewizard and is designed to provide jewelers, gemologists and enthusiasts with an introduction to color grading as well as providing tools to suggest the pricing of gems. The course will begin in February and cover the value of color and clarity, grading and analysis, and the latest techniques and online grading tools that enable students to study stones' quality grades and use the results to gain real-time pricing experience. The course also defines grading rules -- such as color, transparency and cut -- and teaches the evaluation and the methodology behind these techniques. The pricing system presented in the class allows students to see the potential effect of each feature on the gem’s world market price. Gem definitions, commercial names and misnomers, including different names and definitions used in international markets, will also be covered.
