RAPAPORT... The American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories relaunched its website with a new look and added several new features designed to satisfy a growing online and social media savvy audience. One of the highlights includes a ''Quick Response Code'' that users can scan to download an iPhone, iPad or Android device Report Verification App. The app gives site visitors information on their AGS Grading Reports and verifies the report’s authenticity. Jewelers can use the application at point-of-sale to assist customers with details of the report.
Other features include a simple performance cut-grade description. Consumers can do their research online before buying a diamond, and jewelers can use this feature to help in their sales presentations to close more deals. AGS displays videos to demonstrate laboratory processes, global consolidation details, current document examples, lab turnaround time (currently three to four days), supported shapes, and online applications for new clients.
The AGS lab’s website will also soon feature a secure client login for reviewing grading results, requesting rechecks, inscriptions, documents and account details. In addition to English, it will allow users to choose between different languages for viewing the content: Chinese, French, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, and Spanish.
''Websites are always evolving, and with more savvy users comes the need for smart features that are functional. With this site, we’ve given the users a great experience that helps them learn more about the AGS Laboratories, diamonds and how to buy them, and it also gives them the kind of mobile tools they have come to expect,'' said Doug Parker, the chairman of AGS Laboratories. ''By making this SSL secure, we’ve addressed security issues, which is a growing concern. Soon, the website will offer global language conversion capabilities, which reflected our growing client-base and consumer audience.''
