DDI to Present at AGS Conclave in Miami

RAPAPORT... The Diamond Development Initiative International (DDI) will present “Artisanal Diamond Mining: Concerns – Information – Answers” at the 2012 AGS Conclave in Miami, on April 25 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Patricia Syvrud, the head of program development for the Friends of DDI, will make the presentation, introduce the Friends of DDI program, discuss DDI's efforts in addressing challenges in the artisanal diamond mining sector and present ways to  enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts across the jewelry trade.

“We appreciate AGS’s support in sharing our message,” said Dorothée Gizenga, the executive director of DDI. “Currently, artisanal diamond mining supplies 15 percent of all gem diamond production in the marketplace. That percentage is expected to grow as supplies change and large-scale producers re-evaluate their position in the pipeline. All indications are that the work of DDI in helping to legitimize artisanal mining will only grow in importance in the next decade.”

Retailers who sign up for the Friends of DDI program  receive the Retailers Friendship Kit, including a Certificate of Recognition, counter displays, information postcards, and gift box insert cards imprinted with the donor’s name, which can be distributed to customers and constituents.
