RAPAPORT... Investment promotion consultancy Country Factor along with Utho Capital, which has mineral operations in Zimbabwe, are hosting the Zimbabwe International Diamonds Forum at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls on July 12 and 13. Organizers reserved July 14 for post-forum networking and an activities day. The organizers described the venue as a way to discuss the state of, and the changing dynamics in, the international diamond industry from mine to market and to share how Zimbabwe can position itself to exploit its diamond wealth. The event seeks to promote and provide insight into Zimbabwe’s diamond industry in an effort to increase investment opportunities. Additionally, this forum would be the means for which to increase transparency and engagement with Zimbabwe, according to the organizers. Specific topics include financing, diamond beneficiation, corporate social responsibility, luxury consumption, synthetic diamonds and recycled diamonds. The country's Mines and Mining Development Minister, Obert Mpofu, told state radio that this conference will provide an opportunity to show the world how Zimbabwe's diamonds are contributing to the growth of the global diamond trade.
