This conference provides an opportunity to learn about the development of fair trade
jewelry and
ethical sourcing. Hear from members of the jewelry industry who are manufacturing

Trade / Development jewelry; the NGO’s working to establish definitions and guidelines
for Fair Trade;
and representatives of African development communities. Topics to be discussed include:

the artisanal sector; The who and how of Fair Trade standards; Fair Trade gold update;
The new 2009
NGO Standards; Defining Terms: fair trade, fair made, development jewelry, charitable
jewelry, ethical
jewelry etc; Development Jewelry: What is it and can it alleviate poverty in South
Africa? An update on
