RAPAPORT... Canada-based exploration partners Shear Minerals Ltd., and Stornoway Diamond Corporation report more macrodiamond and microdiamond recoveries from the Churchill Diamond Project in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut.

The partners announced recoveries from the Kahuna kimberlite pipe in early December 2006, but have since found additional recoveries in the Notch, Jigsaw and PST003 kimberlites as well. Some 250 new macrodiamonds and 3,477 new microdiamonds have been found in total from the four kimberlite pipes.

"We have identified multiple, vertically emplaced kimberlite dykes up to 4 metres in width that have consistently returned high microdiamond counts from caustic fusion analysis," said Shear CEO and president Pamela Strand. "The partners remain encouraged about the potential for recovering commercial sized diamonds from these bodies and the economic prospects of the project which is well located close to tidewater in a mining-friendly jurisidiction,” she added.
