RAPAPORT... Polished diamond manufacturer Rosy Blue has vehemently denied that its parcels contain synthetic diamonds, responding to rumors circulated in India's marketplace for the past two months.
"We know that the rumor started in India and subsequently people have added spice to it, saying that we are buying synthetic diamonds, manufacturing them and mixing them with our product," the company's CEO, Dilip Mehta, told Rapaport News. "We did not pay attention to the rumors for the first four to six weeks, but they have continued so we thought it was about time we put the record straight."
Mehta stressed that the Antwerp-based Diamond Trading Company sightholder adhers to the strictest auditing practices – receiving both internal and external checks to its manufacturing processes, which, he said, the company was satisfied with.
"To start off, we don’t buy synthetic diamonds to polish them," he said. "So, if you start at the origin, it's all about natural diamonds, and that is what we keep to."
Mehta cautioned, however, that the market was susceptible to companies mixing lab-grown diamonds with the natural product, particularly with small, fancy yellow stones.
"The rumor has been out there for the past two-to-three-years that there have been products with a mixture of natural and synthetic diamonds," he explained. "Some of the labs have seen it. I'm not aware of how widespread it is, but there has been a constant concern about very small yellow size diamonds coming from unknown sources."
"That is absolutely not the case at our company," he added.

1. rosy blue and synthetics

I am not fond of the giant that rosy blue is because they are too big to compete with, for most of us. but that still holds that they are a fine people and malicious rumours such as this not only hurt them but hurt the ENTIRE trade, so we must stop such malicious rumours

2. Absurd!!!

I'm just disgusted with all these rumours in our market. Company like Rosy Blue has been in this trade for over 40 years now...apart from their stellar record in adhering to the toughest quality & auditing standards they have influenced so many of us in the industry in a positive way that, I fail to imagine that, they would stoop so low to do such kind of thing. People who are trying to spread such rumours are not only goingto hurt themselves in long run but, will tarnish our reputation in Diamond Industry Worldwide.
