RAPAPORT... Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, has appointed Kim Truter its new president and chief operating officer. Truter most recently held the position of general manager of Rio Tinto Coal’s Mount Thorley Warkworth operation.

He will start at Diavik in October, replacing Mark Anderson who will join Rio Tinto’s Global Practice Mining Team in Salt Lake City, Utah, having spent just more than two years at the helm of Diavik.

Diavik Diamond Mines owns a 60 percent stake in the mine, located in Canada’s Northwest Territories, and Aber Diamond Limited (soon to be renamed Harry Winston Diamond Corporation) owns 40 percent stake.
