HRD Research Symposium on Treated, Synthetic Diamonds Oct. 24

RAPAPORT... Antwerp:  HRD Research, a department of HRD Antwerp NV, which has been specialising in fundamental and applied research for the diamond industry for more than 30 years, will hold a symposium on “Treated and Synthetic Diamonds: Newest Developments.”

The symposium and a reception will take place on Wednesday October 24 at 4 p.m. in the Oppenheimer Hall located in the HRD Antwerp Building, Hoveniersstraat 22, Antwerp.

The aim of the event is to inform the diamond industry about the latest developments in diamond synthesis and treatment. The symposium will help the sector with the identification of synthetic and treated stones and will help to increase consumer confidence in gem diamonds.

Speakers will be welcomed and introduced by Mr. G. Brys, general manager HRD Antwerp NV, and by Mr. Y. Kerremans, head of the HRD Research department.

HRD Research has invited Mr. J. Neogi of Serenity Technologies who will give a lecture on “Serenity colour enhanced diamonds.”  The second speaker, Mr. PH. Martineau (Diamond Trading Company Research Centre,) will discuss “Colourless and heat treated brown CVD synthetic diamond.”  Mr. J. Van Royen (HRD Research) will highlight the importance of “HPHT treatment of type IaB diamonds” and Mr. J. Chapman (Rio Tinto Diamonds) will explain “Techniques of detecting natural pinks”. 

Closing remarks will be made by Ms. K. De Corte, HRD Research.
