RAPAPORT... Kurt Einhorn, the founder of Kurt Einhorn Diamond Manufacturers, passed away Friday (March 21, 2008,) after battling with cancer. He was 77.
Einhorn’s body was flown from Antwerp to Israel for burial on Sunday (March 23.)
“Kurt had a special ability to adapt to market changes and customer needs,” said David Pienica, chief executive officer of Kurt Einhorn Diamond Manufacturers.
Pienica noted that while the company had started out as specialists in 8-cut and smaller cut diamonds in the 1970s, Einhorn took the focus towards medium to larger stones in the 1980s as it remains today.
Einhorn is survived by his wife Helene, a daughter, who runs the company’s Ramat Gan office, and three sons, one of which runs the London-based online jewelry store, Cool Diamonds. His brother in-law Maurice Pienica and nephew David Pienica continue to operate the Antwerp headquarters.

I was very sad to hear about the death of Kurt Einhorn...he was a very special man, a true "diamantaire" knowlegable, optimistic, enthusiastic about rough as well as polished...he will be sorely missed in the industry as well as by his peers......
