Press Release, NEW YORK: The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) appointed its 2009-2011 Board of Directors on the last day of the ICA Congress held in Panyu, China, earlier this month. The newly installed board is headed by its president, Wilson Yuen of Hong Kong's Able Lapidary & Jewelry Ltd. Yuen has been a member of the ICA board for four years and chaired the important ICA China Task Force prior to his election. Yuen announced his executive board during the ICA General Assembly in Panyu, confirming vice presidents Jean Claude Michelou of Colombia and Charles Abouchar of Switzerland. Michael Haag of Germany will fulfill the role of treasurer, and stepping in as secretaries are Benjamin Hackman of the U.S. and Clement Sabbagh from Brazil. Campbell Bridges, the legendary tsavorite miner from Kenya, was elected to the new board, along with Sushil Goyal of the U.S., Nobuyuki Horiuchi from Japan and Phuket Khunaprapakorn from Thailand. The ICA Board of Directors is composed of members from every major gemstone-producing country as well as those that consume gemstones, bringing together a distinct mix of expertise and knowledge, which positions ICA as an important influence with an international reach. Encouraged by the varied backgrounds of the board members, Yuen stated, "I am extremely pleased with the composition of the new board; we have many dedicated industry professionals who are willing to work on behalf of ICA and the colored gemstone industry. Each of them brings a unique perspective to the ICA for setting our goals and defining our strategies over the next two years."
