RAPAPORT...  Christie’s Hong Kong has chosen The Vivid Pink diamond to headline its autumn sale of magnificent jewels on December 1, 2009. The 5 carat, potentially flawless, cushion-cut fancy vivid pink diamond was set in a ring by Graff Jewellers, and has a presale estimate of $5 million to $7 million.

"As high-quality jewels become increasingly rare on the market, ‘The Vivid Pink’ represents an exciting opportunity for the serious gem collector," according to Christie's. The pink diamond shows no trace of a secondary color, making it a highly coveted straight pink, which, along with its potentially flawless clarity, will make it one of the most sought-after stones this year, Christie's concluded.
