RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) 2010 education catalog is now available, listing all of its course and program descriptions as well as the class schedules for its worldwide gemology, design and jewelry manufacturing courses. The catalog also includes application and registration forms, updated 2010 tuition and fees and information on scholarships and financial assistance.
In addition, GIA is offering a new seven-week certificate course offered by GIA, titled “Comprehensive CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) for Jewelry,” in which students can learn how to take jewelry designs from the initial concept phase, move into photo-realistic renderings and finally, create wax models ready for casting. Distance education has been expanded to include a professional gemological training program delivered completely online via integrated text, slideshows and videos.
