RAPAPORT... Five manufacturers filed an involuntary petition against retailer Leo Robbins & Sons of Philadelphia in United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, citing unpaid invoices totaling $1.37 million. The retailer operates Robbins Diamonds and Robbins 8th & Walnut. The petition was served on November 17, with Leo Robbins ordered to respond within 20 days.

The petitioning creditors included A. Jaffe, which was owed $5,000; ADR Kropveld Diamonds, owed $60,000, Yerushalmi Bros., owed $106,887; Leo Schachter Diamonds, owed $182,772; and Salant Group, which was owed $1.02 million.

Attorneys for EMA Jewelry, LVMH Watch & Jewelry and Jay Gems filed a motion with the court yesterday to be notified of all case developments. The state department of labor in Pennsylvania also filed a motion today to be notified of all action in the case.
