RAPAPORT... Royal Asscher won first place in the 2010 JCK Jewelers Choice Awards for Best Ring Design in the $5,001 to $10,000 category for its Stars of Africa collection. 
The company's Stars of Africa rings incorporate floating diamonds in a fluid-filled, sapphire glass dome. The collection is comprised of three styles that are available in two sizes — medium and large —in 18-karat white gold, rose gold or yellow gold.
The collection was created to benefit Royal Asscher's fundraising initiative, Star of Africa. The initiative recently partnered with the Diamond Empowerment Fund® (D.E.F.) to which Royal Asscher has guaranteed a minimum donation of $50,000 that will contribute to the group's scholar program. The funding generated from the sale of items from the collection will help sponsor students from Sierra Leone attending the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
