RAPAPORT... With the launch of operations in Turkey, HRD Antwerp has opened its first gemological laboratory outside Antwerp. The company reported on Tuesday that its new operation is located in the jewelry and commercial center in Istanbul and comes as part of its strategy to link Antwerp with international diamond jewelry hubs.
“The decision to open a certification laboratory for diamond jewelry in Istanbul was clear-cut, given its status as one of the world's major jewelry hubs,” HRD Antwerp explained.
The Istanbul lab will provide on-the-spot diamond jewelry certification services to Turkish jewelers, who will benefit from being able to receive jewelry reports from the local lab with a minimum waiting time and no overseas shipping costs, the company explained.
“We look forward to a successful partnership with the Istanbul jewelry industry,” said HRD Antwerp's general manager, Georges Brys. “We see this as a natural partnership between two cities with a long history — Antwerp for diamonds and Istanbul for jewelry.”
