RAPAPORT... Demonstrating its support of the Diamond Development Initiative’s (DDI) work to improve social and economic conditions in diamond mining regions of the world, the International Gemological Institute (IGI) of New York hosted DDI board members for a laboratory visit on April 26.
 (From left to right) David Weinstein, Jerry Ehrenwald, Andrew Bone, Ian Smillie, Dorothée Gizenga | Members of DDI held a board of directors meeting in New York in an effort to gain a better understanding of the U.S. diamond industry and IGI opened the lab to the group. IGI's president, Jerry Ehrenwald, stated, “We were humbled to welcome members of the Diamond Development Initiative to our laboratory and support the organization’s important work.”
Visitors to the lab included DDI's executive director, Dorothée Gizenga, chairman Ian Smillie, and board member Andrew Bone, who is the director of international relations at De Beers.
