RAPAPORT... Sotheby’s sale of Important Jewels is planned for September 28, 2010 in New York. The auction will feature diamond jewels from a private collection, including a platinum and diamond pendant necklace by Harry Winston that showcases a pear-shaped, 10.02-carat, D, IF, diamond. This type IIa diamond is suspended from an elegant necklace designed with matched rows of pear-shaped and round diamonds and carries a presales estimate of $1 million to $1.5 million.
Another important piece features a fancy intense yellow diamond ring with a 17.97-carat diamond at its center flanked by white, trapeze-cut diamonds. The item's estimated value is $400,000 to $600,000.
The sale will also offer pieces that constitute three wonderful examples of classic Harry Winston style. The first (pictured) is a platinum and diamond necklace comprised of approximately 50 carats of round and baguette diamonds, complemented by a second piece (also pictured), the fluid platinum and diamond bracelet completed with a diamond clasp.
The third classic item will be a versatile pair of platinum and diamond earclips designed with floral cluster tops and suspended diamond-fringe pendants.
Diamond rings by Cartier and David Webb will round out the auction.
