Jewelers of America Unveils Gem Award Winners

Jewelers of America (JA) presented its 21st annual Gem Awards to members of the industry who excelled in different segments of the trade, with Gucci, Hodinkee and Greenwich St. Jewelers among the winners.

The event took place on March 17 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York, with honors bestowed for lifetime achievement, jewelry design, and media and retail excellence. This year’s prizes also included an inaugural accolade for high-jewelry excellence.

The 2023 Gem Award winners were:

Jewelry Design:

Winner: Anita Ko, owner of Anita Ko

Other Nominees: Kirsty Stone of Retrouvai; David Rees and Ron Anderson of Ten Thousand Things

Media Excellence:

Winner: Michelle Graff of National Jeweler

Other Nominees: Amy Elliott and Sarah Royce-Greensill

Retail Excellence:

Winner: Greenwich St. Jewelers

Other Nominees: Sotheby’s and Zadok Jewelers

High Jewelry Excellence:

Winner: Gucci

Watch Excellence:

Winner: Hodinkee

Lifetime Achievement:

Winner: Steven Kaiser
