The diamond industry continues to operate with caution, but there was improvement in trading confidence out of India and Israel in February. Still, the next few months will require navigating those persistent challenges that have impacted the trade since third-quarter 2011. Read the latest Rapaport Research report "Showing Restraint."
Polished diamond prices were mixed during February with stones above 1 carat declining, however, year on year prices for polished diamonds as measured by the RapNet Diamond Index (RAPI) were higher for 1-carat, 0.50-carat and 3-carat. Only 0.30-carat diamonds were lower compared with February 2011.
