Suashish's 4Q Sales -3%, Profit More Than Doubles

RAPAPORT... Suashish Diamonds Ltd. reported that standalone net sales fell 3 percent year on year to $42.2 million (INR 2.29 billion) during its fourth fiscal-quarter that ended on March 31, 2012.

Net profit, however, more than doubled to $1.3 million (INR 72.4 million) as expenses declined. Total expenditures fell 13 percent to $40.6 million (INR 2.21 billion) during the quarter, the Mumbai-based diamond and jewelry manufacturer reported.

For the fiscal year, the company’s net profit decreased 38 percent year on year to $7 million (INR 382.5 million) while net sales rose 12 percent to $209.9 million (INR 11.41 billion).
