RAPAPORT... The Botswana Diamond Manufacturers Association (BDMA) and  Botswana’s Ministry ‎of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources are hosting a stakeholder conference on  June 21, 2012, exploring opportunities in the country’s diamond hub program.‎

The conference, or PITSO, which is being held under the theme, “Botswana an ‎Emerging Diamond Centre: Diversification And Opportunities,” aims to create a dialog ‎with stakeholders about issues pertaining to downstream opportunities in the diamond ‎industry. It will also share key insights and knowledge regarding the progress of the Diamond Trading Company's (DTC) ‎relocation to Botswana and improving citizens’ participation in the diamond industry. ‎Botswana's minister of minerals,   P.H.K Kedikilwe, will ‎give the keynote address.‎

Additionally, DTC is holding a ‎vendor's day forum and exhibition in Gaborone on Thursday (Varda Shine discusses here). The day is being organized ‎as a platform for knowledge exchange between the diamond company and local enterprises that ‎could benefit from De Beers' relocation of its diamond trading activities to Botswana by ‎the end of 2013.

During the forum, Botswana owned and operated suppliers will be able to exhibit and introduce their services covering  hospitality and tourism, office supplies, furniture retailers, artists, financial ‎institutions, information technology, medical practitioners, transportation, cleaning and ‎landscape services and security.
