Press Release: Moti Ganz, the chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) Group of Companies,  was presented with the first ''Order of Merit Award'' this past evening from the World Diamond Council (WDC) and CIBJO,  the World Jewelry Confederation, at a gala event in Tel Aviv. The award was presented by WDC's president, Eli Izhakoff, and CIBJO's president, Gaetano Cavalieri, in recognition of 25 years of public service on behalf of the global diamond industry.

During his career,  Ganz served on various diamond industry bodies in Israel and was elected unanimously as president of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) in 2004. In 2008, he was became president of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA), where he served until 2012. Since 2006 Ganz has been the chairman of IDI.

Ganz was feted for bringing unprecedented achievements to IDI. Event moderator Michael Greenspan said, “Even before the economic crisis in the U.S., he pushed to enhance IDI’s activities in and exports to Asia – a move that helped the Israeli diamond industry through the crunch much more successfully than other world industries. In 2007, his vision led Moti to open the IDI representative office in Hong Kong -- a 'home away from home' for Israeli diamond companies.

“Under his leadership, the Institute significantly enhanced the participation of Israeli diamond companies in international exhibitions, with the emphasis on Asia. Today, hundreds of those companies are showcased at the Israeli pavilion in exhibitions around the world,” Greenspan said.

Ganz expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, adding “I hope to continue to serve the diamond industry for many years. I love this industry and I hope the industry also loves me.”

Izhakoff praised Ganz by saying, “I spoke of leadership at the WDC meeting. Moti fits the description of what a good leader should be. He speaks little, but delivers a lot – effectively and beautifully.”

Cavalieri assured Ganz that “this industry loves you as much as you love this industry.”
