RAPAPORT... Christie's will hold its first online only jewelry sale from July 17 to 26, 2013. The Summer Jewels sale will feature more than 100 lots from contemporary jewelers with what the company considered to be accessible price points from up-and-coming designers such as Brazilian born Lily Gabriella Elia and Olivia Wildenstein.
"This inaugural online-only sale of Summer Jewels is an exciting new venture for us at Christie’s. After a historic spring season of auction sales, we are pleased to offer collectors a new way to collect jewelry with Christie’s and to introduce a specially curated array of designs by some of the young shining stars working within the jewelry world today,” said François Curiel, the chairman of Christie's jewelry department.
Top lots from Elia's namesake collection, ''Lily Gabriella,'' include a diamond pendant necklace with a pre-sale estimate of $4,000 to $5,000. An 18-karat white gold and diamond ring inspired by Elia's South American heritage, which is estimated to fetch between $2,800 and $3,800 and an amethyst, diamond and gold necklace with a pre-sale estimate of $3,500 to $4,500.
Highlights from Wildenstein include a citrine and diamond bonbon ring with a pre-sale estimate of $1,100 to $1,500 and a pair of cultured pearl and diamond Couers Enlacés ear pendants estimated to garner between $6,000 and $8,000.
The sale also features a pair of sapphire cufflinks by Trianon estimated to achieve $3,000 to $3,500, a diamond and white gold bangle bracelet by Marina B with a pre-sale estimate of $4,500 to $5,500 and a diamond and enamel gold bracelet by Roberto Coin projected to sell for between $5,500 and $6,500.
Bidding for the array of ear pendants, necklaces, bracelets and cufflinks among other pieces will close on July 26.
