RAPAPORT... Tzoffey's is preparing an auction of diamonds, colored gemstones and jewelry during the upcoming U.S. & International Diamond Week, August 26 to 29, in Ramat Gan. Viewing will take place in an area adjacent to the Israel Diamond Exchange's trading floor during the first three days of Diamond Week and conclude with the auction on August 28. "Israel is a leading manufacturing and trading center of important diamonds. At this auction, a unique selection of diamonds will be tendered," said Tzoffey's principal Avner Sofiov. "Nowhere else but in Israel, buyers will find such a unique choice and variety of important stones in the market." Some of the stones up for auction include a 50-carat, VS, fancy-intense yellow, cushion-shaped diamond; an unheated blue emerald-cut sapphire (pictured) of more than 50 carats; a 77.52-carat, type IIa, fancy orange-deep-brown, cushion-shaped diamond and a 62-carat, W to X, VS, triple-ex, diamond. Israel Diamond Exchange's president, Yair Sahar, said, "Avner's sharp wit and his keen eye for exclusive diamonds and gems is unsurpassed in our trade. The selection of items he put together for this auction is simply fantastic. This auction adds significant value to an event that promises to be the best ever diamond sales opportunity held on the trading floor."
