Press Release: Trent West, the owner of nine patents related to the concept and manufacture of Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S., has gained an injunction against Bijou Max LLC of Los Angeles, California, prohibiting the sale of Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S. Bijou Max sells under the brand names Metal Masters Co., Ultimate Metals Co., and Bonndorf. Bijou Max is believed to be one of the largest Internet sellers of Tungsten Carbide rings. West has sued more than 20 sellers of infringing Tungsten Carbide rings as part of an ongoing campaign to stop the unlawful infringement of his patents. West is seeking permanent injunction against all defendants to prohibit unlicensed Tungsten Carbide rings from being distributed or sold, and is also seeking monetary damages due to the infringement. "This injunction is another major development in recognizing the validity of Trent West's patents," said West's attorney, Edward King of King & Kelleher LLP. "This ruling makes a definitive statement to violators who infringe on West's nine patents which cover all Tungsten Carbide rings distributed in the U.S. market." There are four legally authorized sellers of Tungsten Carbide rings protected by West's nine patents relating to the concept and manufacture of Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S. They are Frederick Goldman Inc., Benchmark, Jewelry Innovations, and Fable. Representing nearly one-third or 32 percent of the men's wedding band market, Tungsten Carbide has become one of the most popular contemporary metals used in wedding bands. As one of the hardest materials used in the manufacturing of rings, Tungsten Carbide is also the most scratch-resistant metal on the jewelry ring market, ranking behind a diamond on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
