Press Release: The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) is releasing the brand new course notes from its internationally renowned diamond diploma at this year's International Jewellery London (IJL) from August 31 to September 2 at Olympia. Continuing with the development of their education courses and membership services, the association is releasing its course notes in conjunction with the announcement of an innovative corporate social responsibility course and a fresh outlook on membership to signal a new path for the association. Similar to previous iterations of the course, the new notes will explore topics covering the formation of diamonds through to their use in the jewelry trade, how they are valued and the identification of natural, synthetic and treated diamonds. As noted by Gem-A tutor Andrew Fellows, "The structure of the diploma, how it is assessed and the final learning outcomes will remain the same."
Fellows added, "However, the upgraded and expanded version will contain more in-depth material on all diamond related topics, including the latest information on technology, research, testing equipment and techniques. We've expanded the material from 14 to 18 chapters, allowing for a more rigorous investigation of new and existing topics, whilst increasing the amount and quality of the images, diagrams and other supporting materials." Fellows went on to discuss how the diamond notes will continue to place Gem-A at the forefront of diamond education. "The new and refreshed diamond notes aim to keep our courses and our students up to date with all the new developments in the industry. For instance, issues surrounding subjects like synthetics, simulants and their detection are constantly in flux and our courses need to be kept fresh, modern and up to date to reflect the continual changes in this industry. We're confident the new notes will do just that and keep Gem-A diamond education relevant to the industry over the years ahead. We encourage any current and former students to try them out for themselves and take a first glimpse at this year's IJL." Gem-A's CEO, James Riley, echoed these sentiments, saying, "Although we are currently producing a number of new courses for the industry, we're also constantly updating our flagship courses in line with industry demand. The new diamond course notes will enable future students of Gem-A to have the same high quality level of education as in previous years, ensuring they are fully briefed with new developments across the industry.
