Press Release: The Israel Diamond Pavilion will once again be one of the largest at this year’s September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, to be held September 15 to 19, 2014. The pavilion, organized by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI), will extend over more than 1,200 square meters and will feature 96 companies – seven more than last year. There will also be about 30 additional Israeli companies exhibiting locations throughout the show.

This year’s pavilion, although expanded, was not able to meet the demand by Israeli companies to participate in the September show. A waiting list included close to 40 companies who were not able to participate.

The Israel Diamond Pavilion will be located in Hall 7, 9 and 11 of the Asia World Expo. A special lounge area for buyers will be located at the heart of the pavilion. The IDI lounge will serve refreshments throughout the day and in addition to tables and chairs, it will be outfitted with terminals featuring the Find Your Diamond system. This computerized database of all goods offered by Israeli exhibitors at the show will enable buyers to easily locate exactly the goods they are seeking.

The September Hong Kong Show is one of the most important shows on the global industry calendar. As befitting such a key show, IDI invests a great deal in industry promotion at the show. This year IDI will again be sponsoring the show’s opening reception, which always attracts a huge turnout. In addition IDI is again an honored partner of the JNA awards, which will be presented at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong on September 16.

The Israeli diamond industry sees Asian markets, led by Hong Kong, as one of the most important long-term growth areas for Israeli diamonds. Hong Kong is today Israel’s second largest market for polished diamonds after the U.S., representing close to 30 percent of Israel’s total polished exports. Israel’s net polished diamond exports to Hong Kong reached $1.7 billion in 2013.

IDI's chairman, Moti Ganz, said that the Israeli diamond industry sees a great future for Israeli exports to Asian markets. “We see Asia, with Hong Kong as its leading entry point, as a vast and largely untapped market for diamonds. Our experience to date in Hong Kong, China and other markets has shown that we have only begun to scratch the surface,” he said.

IDI's managing director, Eli Avidar, said that he was optimistic at the prospects for an active show. “The September Hong Kong trade fair is the largest in Asia, and the Israeli diamond industry will be out in full force. Our diamond companies are experienced in these markets and will be bringing goods that are especially geared to Asia. Based on our previous experience we are quite optimistic that this will be an excellent show,” Avidar stated.
