RAPAPORT... The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) will honor six industry leaders at its annual convention in Toronto next year to  showcase the achievements of companies, individuals and groups in the mineral exploration and mining sector. Award recipients were selected by PDAC's board, following the recommendations from the association's awards committee.

One of the six honorees is Matt Manson, the president and CEO of Stornoway Diamond Corporation, who will receive  the Viola R. MacMillan Award for leading Stornoway's team in the continuing development of the Renard diamond mine in James Bay,  Québec. Just this past July, Stornoway completed a $946 million project financing package for Renard,  more than 13 years after the project's initial discovery.

Renard is currently under construction and Stornoway anticipates diamond production beginning during the second half of 2016.

During all phases of the project, Manson built strong relationships with the Québec government, the Cree Nation, as well as with the local communities of Chibougamau and Chapais by making them active partners with Stornoway, according to the PDAC.

Recipients of the 2015 annual awards will be celebrated on March 2  at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel as part of the PDAC 2015 Convention.
