RAPAPORT... The Royal Asscher Diamond Company Ltd. and The Uchihara Group  signed an exclusive distribution agreement, whereas the partnership will enable Royal Asscher's expansion activities in Japan. The newly formed company, Royal Asscher of Japan, is the exclusive distributor for Royal Asscher diamonds and jewelry in Japan.

Royal Asscher has been present in Japan for more than 50 years, successfully establishing  a select distribution network of high-end retailers and department stores and by operating two brand stores that offer Royal Asscher diamonds and diamond jewelry lines. The new partnership with The Uchihara Group will further Royal Asscher's strategy to grow the brand’s presence globally, with the primary focus on the Asian Pacific region, Europe and the U.S.

Edward Asscher, the president of Royal Asscher Diamond Company, said, “We have a long and great history in Japan. It is our intention to strongly expand the brand recognition by our cooperation with Royal Asscher of Japan and Uchihara. We are expanding our production and will introduce new designs and diamond cuts to better serve our customers in Japan and to give them a wider choice.”

Ichiro Uchihara, the president of The Uchihara Group, said, “Like Royal Asscher, we can reflect on a history of family traditions. The Uchihara family has been leading the company for four generations and we look forward to celebrating our 100th anniversary in 2020, the same year the Olympic games will be hosted in Tokyo; we are very excited to partner with famous Royal Asscher and expand their market penetration in Japan.”

The Uchihara Group is a privately owned group of companies that specializes in high-quality diamonds and jewelry. The original company, Uchihara Co. Ltd., was founded in 1920 in Osaka. The Uchihara Group operates retail and wholesale services, including owned and operated brand stores, points of sale and a distribution network to leading retailers and wholesalers. During the past 25 years, the group has been actively pursuing a branding growth strategy to raise its business profile. The company holds its own special "bonded warehouse," which is authorized by Tokyo Customs, where imported diamonds and jewelry can be stored, examined and presented without the need to pay import duties or consumption tax, thereby creating a unique position with important advantages and opportunities.
