Rajesh Exports’ Revenue, Profit Surge in 2Q

RAPAPORT... Indian jewelry manufacturer and marketer Rajesh Exports
reported sales rose about four-fold in the second quarter, pushing up net
profit by 75 percent.
Revenue surged to $6.7 billion (INR 443.2 billion) in the
three-month period that ended September 30, the company said in a statement. Net profit climbed to $43.3
million as expenses advanced to $6.6 billion.
The company said in its statement second-quarter results included revenue and profit figures for August
and September from metal refining group Valcambi, which Rajesh acquired
for $400 million at the end of July. In the half year to September, revenue
roughly trebled to $9 billion, while net profit soared 86 percent to $78.2
million.
“This quarter has been a record-breaking quarter for the company
since inception,” chairman Rajesh Mehta said in the statement. “The acquisition
of Valcambi has proven to be path-breaking as the company has emerged as a
truly global company and the largest gold company in the world.”
