RAPAPORT... ALROSA has appointed Vladislav Zhdanov as vice president, handing him responsibility for the Russian miner’s financial security, internal audit and risk management.

The appointment, effective November 17, represents the first time ALROSA has created a position dedicated to this area, the company said in a statement. It follows the Russian government’s recent approval of a corporate governance code that mandates more effective risk management and calls for the creation of relevant new business units.

Zhdanov was previously CIS and Eastern Europe head of marketing risk management and business-model optimization at machine-building holding company Zhejiang Noblelift Equipment JSC, the statement added.
