RAPAPORT... The American Society of Appraisers will offer jewelry appraisal training for gems and jewelry professionals at Dallas in Texas in the New Year.

A course entitled ‘Appraising Gems & Jewelry for Advanced Assignments: Development and Report Writing’ will run from March 16 to 19, aimed at practicing gems and jewelry appraisers or those who intend to pursue a career in the profession, according to a statement December 23.

The advanced course covers topics such as analyzing comparable sales results and writing a convincing argument supporting the value conclusion, and provides an opportunity to gain the knowledge and confidence required to complete challenging assignments such as appraising for estate tax, equitable distribution or insurance loss claim.

A second course, ‘The Fashion and The Flair: 19th-20th Century Fashion and Jewelry,’ will be held from March 19 to 20. It is designed for practicing gems and jewelry appraisers, personal property appraisers, or other professionals who wish to advance their professional development. It will include an advanced curriculum that explores the fashion and jewelry of Georgian, Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Edwardian, Art Deco, Retro and Post-World War periods within the historical and social context of the fashions of the day.

Both events will take place at the Heritage/Slocum Gallery in Dallas.
