RAPAPORT... Scio Diamond, a producer of synthetic diamonds from chemical-vapor
deposition (CVD), said its Greenville plant in South Carolina returned to full
production after a water leak in December led to a shutdown.
“All growers have been repaired and are back in
production," said Gerald McGuire, Scio’s president and chief executive
officer. “The company expects to show
significant increases in output in March and April as the diamonds from the
restored growers complete their growth cycle,” Scio added.
A water line break damaged diamond growers at the Greenville
factory, forcing the company to operate at below capacity after an initial
period of shutdown. That in turn meant fourth-quarter sales were not
as strong as expected, according to Scio.
